Cloisonne is one of the famous arts and crafts of Beijing. The making of cloisonne requires rather elaborate and complicated processes: base-hammering, copper-strip inlay, soldering, enamel-filling, enamel-firing, polishing and gilding. The products are featured by excellent quality. The skill and workmanship have been handed down from the Ming Dynasty.

景泰蓝又名珐琅，超源于元朝时的古老京都，盛行于明朝景泰年间。因其釉料颜色主要以蓝色（孔雀蓝和宝石蓝）为主，所以被称为景泰蓝。景泰蓝又名掐丝珐琅，是一种瓷铜结合的独特工艺。制作景泰蓝先要用紫铜制胎，再用扁细的铜丝在铜胎上粘出图案花纹，然后用色彩不同的珐琅釉料镶嵌填充在图案中。这道工序完成后才是反复烧结，磨光镀金。可以说，景泰蓝的制作工艺即运用了青铜工艺，又利用了瓷器工艺，同时又大量引进了传统绘画得雕刻技艺，堪称中国传统工艺的集大成者。
